Quarantine 2020
And as the darkness
Swept across the lands,
People took to their shelters-
Stayed close to their kin.
Clutched tightly to their faith
And taught their children all of their best.
They loved with all of their might-
And prayed harder than ever before.
And the sound of song filled deserted city streets-
Bringing us together in isolation-
Spreading hope like a ripple.
As we watched the world from our screens,
And cheered one another on-
With the click of mouse.
And we watched as our heroes
Lay down their capes-
And pick up some scrubs,
Because overnight their job
Became the frontlines of a battlefield.
We covered our mouths
And washed our hands-
But still people got sick
And still people died.
And we wished-
We were so much bigger
Than we were
Inside the confines of our homes.
And as I look out my window,
