i hate him
i hate the way he behaves
as he announces his presence
and i'm suppose to pretend
the war never occured

the decade spent
tiptoeing the line
taking the unprovoked blows
while trying to behave human
did damage on my soul

strangers laugh and ask
"what's next"
expecting big adventurous plans
but my eyes are on the clock
because at any second it could happen

he took the patient
wide eyed dreamer
then threw her into battle
the cries were blood curdling
i can still feel the death rattling screams...

it has been over three million seconds since
yet he could reach over
unsuspected
act as before
then shatter this subdue appearance

i do not want to be taken advantage of
not again
by a demon in sheeps clothing
who plays on other's emotions
only for his own selfish pleasure

so like a soldier
i will sit and guard
those unaware of his nature
because my past life was suffocated
and nobody should have to go through that
