the salted siren of the waves
the deep sound silence to the graves
have become my new open room.

the chill lingers
through my cold fingers
as the sun touches my cheek
eight days now
i’ve been drifting here in the sea
solid solitude for survival
been dying endlessly.

but within these sorrowful days
i’ve learned to gather water haze
from the morning dew
and to hunt any creatures to suck
just to quell the hunger in my stomach
don’t know how long
i’ll let myself be swept
by the harsh waves of fate.

i took the bucket,
knowing that later it'd rain again.
in the mid pacific ocean,
so i prepare it
to have something to drink
in the days to come
i defy the pressure of it.

i saw a piece of dynamite
on my boat sleeping all despite
as if waiting for a chance to be lit
a dozen before i commit
i used some to try to catch
the attention of passing ships
now there’s only one left
yes, three ships have passed by,
but none of them
wished to this poor guy.

on the ninth day
i took the pipe i'd sharpened
to hunt for fish
yesterday, i failed to catch any
'cause the waves were strong
my body's growing weak
i've nothing to eat

and at last, i saw a fish
a fish i'd not bear to eat
'cause it was crying
and i'd feel its tears falling
said it wanted to be my friend
said it'd help me transcend
find my way to the pier
take this salted times
a sad, sad souvenir.
