"What kind of picture do they see
Whenever people look at me?"
A face with not much having expressions
As if she lacks some kind of emotions;
When people put her up on pedestals
Thinking she has too much high standards;
In truth, she was the one who can't keep up
Only pretending she was tough;
They tell her she was hard to please
Around her, they sit with unease;
In fact, inside she was just self-conscious
Hiding the truth that she was nervous;
They look at her as if she's different
Inside her mind, they can't connect;
They must have thought she was peculiar
The way she speaks is unfamiliar;
When she talks, people look in wonder,
As if her words, they couldn't ponder;
How great her thoughts, that's what they say
But her meanings, they only speculate;
Why couldn't people understand
That compliments, she didn't want?
She only yearns to be understood
Not just an image that they conclude;
And though she speaks up to explain
That perfect image she can't unchain,
If only they'd look at her shadow's reflection,
She was just a girl filled with imperfection.
