the voyage
#WritcoPoemPrompt12
Let her sleep deep,
Let us not weep,
For she is at her journey’s end,
Left with no memories to mend.
pushing off from shore
waving farewell and wishing for more
time sweet time
the eternal wish of the dying
and yet as the boat sets forth
fear and fright dwindle
and in their place at the helm
an old friend awaits her command
where oh where do we point the prow
the old ways are dead and new paths emerge
shall we sit fretting in waters waist deep
or challenge the unknown of the depths of this sea
and laughing she boldly a lights on the rails
bewildered at the ease her body now displays
looking forward to a world entirely new
she sets forth on a new life forgetting the old
