Time, Insatiable Beast
Someone once sang me a song to sleep,
A song so sweet, long and deep…
But it has turned into a dagger piercing through my ribs
How lovely it was, and is for kids in their cribs
And in unknown languages tunes they chime,
As melancholic as rain
And as old as time

And through time, its worlds, eras and zones,
There is din of creaking wood and breaking bones,
But oh, I am lost on a single page
I am stuck here, yet it is not a cage;
And like all vagabonds I am left to roam
These worlds, eras and zones…
I just want to go home

So take me, lead me, hold my hand, I beg!
Even tear my limbs: my arms and a leg
If you so wish; I am willing to go
I am willing to run or be as slow
As I need to get far far away
From this place
Please, do not lead me astray

Remember all those memories you've told me to keep,
All those memories I replay as I go to sleep?
They are now pieces of a puzzle never to be solved
I have gone so far back, yet I wish I have evolved
Just like you have, Time, insatiable beast
Can I go back?
I like this place the least

There is a cave, but it's missing a piece…
It's missing and that has me on a lease
Time, I beg you, you bastard, you prick!
If you wish to kill me, please make it quick
I do not desire to be a pawn, nor to wander around
Fix this cave of time,
Open a portal to my ground

My ground, my place, my home… does it exist?
Have I just been dragged through this mist?
You've caught me up in this abhorrent mess,
You've perplexed me, but nevermore, I guess
This is where you've taken me, you plan to keep me here
I don't know what you are, who you are,
But I know you are not to fear
Because if I fear you, I will lose my sight
Tell me, Time, aren't I right?
