Hide...
You taught me to fight,
How to run, and to fly,
And you taught me patience,
How to quiet my mind,
You taught me resilience,
How to bend,
But not break,
You taught me silence,
How to breathe in the sea,
You taught me to track,
to snare,
And to hunt,
To not let enemies run,
And be quick with a gun,
Sword,
Dagger,
And spear,
To chase down my quarry,
Without mercy or fear
You taught me to lie,
To see without eyes,
You taught me to swim,
How to survive,
On these sundered seas
You taught me to hate,
To laugh and to love,
You taught me mercy,
But not for a dove,
You taught me to be wary,
Suspicious, at a glance,
You taught me to blend in,
Inconspicuous, by chance,
You taught me to sing,
To smile and dance,
And then one day,
You left,
Threw caution to the wind
Left it all to chance.
So you taught me to wander,
Just how to be lost,
But you'd shown me the stars,
So I found my way back,
Because you'd gave me a compass,
In my heart, and my soul,
Not the pack on my back.
And I taught you to cry,
How to see through my eyes,
You taught me to climb,
How to sail without wind,
So I taught you to live,
To find joy in the small,
To find something on which,
You could put your own spin.
When you taught me to kill,
How to end my own kin,
But when the time arose,
For you to leave me,
alone,
There was something still,
That I had not been shown,
Because you taught me to fight,
How to run,
How to fly,
But when backed in a corner,
I didn't know how to hide.
You said you were done,
That you'd shown me it all,
I always knew there was something,
You wouldn't show me at all,
The reason there, being,
Because it made you feel small...
For too long you had hid,
You had run when you could,
Desperate for shelter,
Water or wood,
A fire for warmth,
Something to eat would be good...
But when you couldn't run,
You hid through the day,
Wishing for an end,
For the day to be done,
Curled tight in a ball,
In an old oak tree's hollow,
Hoping and praying,
That no one would follow
