lone and lost
When everyone’s around everything’s safe and sound,
Conceal all the things that make you blue,
Be the person you think you will love,
The person you think deserve your empathy,

But when you come home,

Be the person he accepts you to be,
Perhaps he loves it more than you do,
Perhaps he won’t leave you for all your lacks,
Perhaps he will stay for all that you are,

Because when he sees your wound he calls it miracle,
When he listens to your past he calls it a journey,
For it leads you to him,

But somehow,
What feels like home is not what you’re after,
Because you’re after that pain,
You’re after that rain,
For when it showers you, it gives you child-like wonder,
Then you go back home feeling sick,
Feeling cold because that’s your aftercare,

But darling, at least you’re home again,
And every time you run you’ll run back to him,

Suns and moons go by,
He finally becomes someone else’s home
Before you even noticed it’d happened,
You’ve lost everything you’re holding onto so tight,

Now you’re all by yourself again,
And you can’t decide who you want to be,
Because who you have been is a play people watch for free,

Are you your past? Your mistake? Your gain? Your empathy? Your love? Your hatred?
Or are you what you lose?
