There was a time
I wished only to be understood
Yet at every turn stood
A person who didn't see
At a time I wished
Upon a star in June
For someone,
Who my feelings saw
Who knew me as well as I
One who could relate
Because they too had felt
One to call soulmate
Petty as it may sound
I wanted a someone as broken as I
Someone I could heal with
Still within me a voice called out
You need no one but yourself
