thin, well worn linoleum
many the days seeing a broom and a mop
accompanying that small metal table for four with the ugly yellow laminate top.
when the hour is late and the kitchen has quieted down.
it's that familiar cuckoo clock that now makes the only sound.
the walls once a Cheery shade of blue now wearing a dimmer Gray.
witnessing many lives, what would these old walls say?
this is the heart of the home,
the family's matriarchs throne.
