The Question
Shifting shape like light along water
A question lingers in my reflection
Anesthetized
Complacent
Disconnected
Disgusting
Withdrawing from my misery through cheap entertainment
So enthralled with the circus I become the main attraction
The wounded soul begins to fester from self inflicted infections
The crowd claps along with euphoric disengagement
Tear drops ripple my reflection
The water calms, My face beyond
ever a happy clown
Frown painted backwards and upside down,
The mouth is moving but makes no sound,
Everyone hears the pretty song,
but in truth it’s a howl, keening, weeping,
Who am I now, when my heart is beyond healing?
