The Caress of Moonlight
#moon #moonlight #poem
I felt the caress of moonlight
as I walked neath the darkened sky
and sought for a life thats resting
in its ancient lullaby
the birds have went to nest
the owl wakes at last
and I alone resist
the time of sunlight is past
but soon my limbs grow heavy
the red blanket tucks me in
and the dirt meets my head
I knew the moon would win
I felt its caress
as my breath slows
and at last I was ready
ready to let go
in the moonlight
