A sweet (A poem like story)
I'm young and made my first best friend
Said her name, and told you all about her while you laid there on the bed
And you had smiled and told me her name had once been yours before you had changed it to mine

It's the only part you told me of your childhood. Never thought to ask who your mom and dad was.

I never got to knowing the story of your past, though I could tell the hardships it had been
You made a new family, changed your name it honour for them and I shall carry it proudly through my years. They had guided you to making your family you have now.

I remember the stories I told you through the years, talking to you about my day
The sweets, the ginger beer and love
Life had been blissful
Like the blooming flowers of the front garden
You taught me to ask forgiveness when picking plants cause they cry in pain too
It's these words my mind cannot forget about you
You had passed you love for flowers to your child

And you had lived to nearly see ninety
Back in high school, head rested on my desk and rushing down to the hospital ward seems so vividly clear like the constant way you had told me you loved me
I knew you haven't had long to live
It must have been hard for you to have lost a son then as well

The worst year of my life, is the year which you had said goodbye
I would loved to your stories of the nineties as you had listen to mine
And hope you are happy, with your grandchildren, daughter and son
And those that still live here I hope they'll find their happiness even if I don't see them much after you had left

You were truly the glue held this family together. Granny, may heaven be kind to you as you were kind to me.
