Yonder
Pine thicket rows
Calling out to me each day
Childhood woes left
A place to frolic free and play
Pine straw walls
Houses built of sticks
Flowers hanging from a branch
Oh, the minds of kids
Crisscross limbs stretch
Nearly blocking out the sky
Sisters on a high up branch
Thinking she can fly
Further into woods we go
Further from our place
Further to the creek we roam
Squirrels giving chase
Bamboo bushel gathered
Dragged behind a bike
Up the hill we turn
Another half mile hike
Farther from safe haven
Closer, still, to home
Oh how I miss out Yonder
Where our young hearts still roam
