The lie

A sunset smile secretly slipping
away out the shadows
And into whatever is left
It came into my mind
Sweet to touch and it
Created vulnerability through
My virtue

Now I reflect on the story
And the fragmented pieces of
Feelings that didn’t connect
Your name rhyming with regret
Destiny in a future with tears
infinitely reminding me that
I believed you
A perfect actor in a scheme
