I swallowed the sunrise
When I forgave you again
But when the horizon said goodnight
Your darkness was hard to forget
You poured out your pride
At the top of the mountain
From the snowy vista on high
I saw every carved canyon
Don’t ask me to love you
Don’t pray for tomorrow
Don’t expect me to follow
You’re on your own tonight
We drank with a toast
To our mutual award
Mine perched in the heavens
Yours sunk within a crevasse
