I couldn't sleep
In the quiet hush of midnight’s keep,
I tossed and turned, I couldn’t sleep.
The stars above in silent flight,
Offered no solace in the night.

Thoughts like shadows danced and spun,
A restless mind could not be undone.
Each whisper of the dark brought fears,
Echoes of the day's lost years.

The clock’s hands moved with cruel grace,
Marking time in this empty space.
Dreams eluded, faint and steep,
In the quiet of my sleepless keep.

I yearned for peace, a calm release,
From the ceaseless noise, the lack of ease.
Yet in the dark, the mind’s own deep,
I wrestled still, I couldn’t sleep.
