That Burdensome Thing Called Hope
This face I show
Will never be enough
Even when it smiles
Hiding the clouds beneath
From eyes which cannot bear
Even the slightest change in weather
This space within me
Won't go numb
It won't let me rest
I bring a new offering
Cradled in cupped hands
And still, it will never be enough
There is nothing left to give
Yet I return to the well
Again and again
Again
No change occurs
No one pretends to look
