Love Lost
In the twilight of our love’s demise,
I watched the ashes fall through heart-shaped skies.

The tears we shed were wasted drops of rain,
Lost in the vastness of an empty domain.

The promises we made, now hollow and cold,
Washed away like footprints on sands of old.

Within your touch, I discovered illusion’s lie,
Fleeting moments of bliss wrapped in a sigh.

Yet your absence now stings like a bitter welt,
A reminder of the pain that I never truly felt.

Love’s embers burned out, leaving no trace,
A charred landscape of passion’s discontented embrace.

And now I wander aimlessly in solitude’s cruel embrace,
Searching for fragments of the love we once chased.

But love lost is a phantom that lingers in the night,
Haunting my dreams, a bittersweet plight.

Perhaps it is better to have loved and lost,
Than to dwell in the shadows, paying the cost.

For in the depths of despair, I begin to find,
Strength to mend the fragments, piece by piece, line by line.

Love may be lost, but its memory will always remain,
Etched in the verses of my heart's eternal refrain.
