The first rays of the sun wakes her up,
living alone in a rented house,
a lone actress sets out on her own,
in search of a job to own.

She passes the cafe she works part time at,
and enters a crowded apartment,
to try out for a role in vain;
she's never chosen,
she bears the pain.

For years and years she tried out,
living on a wage too low,
but she won't let go of her childhood dreams,
when she enacted plays alone,
only she knows what it means.

And now we see her every day,
on the stage, acting out her dreams,
a renowned actress, who carried on and on,
when her hopes were all dead,
now those days are all gone
