how do you accept a person into your life again?
when all needed to be said has been said
when everything has ended, past grief and acceptance
how do you let them in again, pretend nothing ever happened?

no, i don't wish upon you harm, nor do your presence i loathe
but a house abandoned could no longer be called a home

how do you open your heart a second time?
when all the damage could no longer be undone
when i'd lost myself, then you, and the world turned dark
how do i tell you it was me who brought myself back a spark?

but i'm no cruel man, and i'll spare us the remark
maybe my recollections made it out to be worse than it was
so perhaps, i think i'd love to go for a walk.
