Paradise
Sat at the
craps table,
blew on his
own dice.
Introduced
himself to me
as Mr. Concise.
One look at
him and I
knew he was
nothing nice.
Looked like
he was made
of fire and spice.
I guess he’s made
of pure luck because
he won that game,
twice.
Every move
that he made,
calculated
and precise.
So I told him
my name was
Mrs. Entice.
That I have a lot
of virtues but
one major vice.
That I’m always
willing to listen
but never to advice.
I have everything
I need in myself,
I’ll suffice.
I believe in most
things but not
in sacrifice.
And I have a
bunch just
like you,
like a lab
full of mice.
He asked for
my heart I said,
it’s too overpriced.
But I can offer
you a small little
sliver, a slice.
A match
made in heaven,
destination,
paradise.
