When I close my eyes
From the perspective of a man who realised things too late~
When I close my eyes, all I can see
is a picture of us together,
with a house, and a garden, and a swing,
white clouds and clear weather.
Our kids playing in the backyard,
and us sipping a cup of tea,
I think, perhaps, it could've been true
but it isn't, you see.
I wish I could've been a better husband,
a better father which they'd need.
Turns out, I kept a family alive but,
in hearts, dead indeed.
They told me so many times they wanted
me to stay by their side.
But I could do nothing but watch 'em
slowly break inside.
I stayed silent when I was needed most,
for there were too many thoughts to say.
I let them go, in front of my eyes,
too proud to ask 'em to stay.
Without leaves, roots, and flowers,
I'm a mere lonely stem.
Wish I could've said at the right time,
I did wanna live with them.
When I close my eyes, all I can see
is a dream which was lost,
somewhere among my pride,
and somewhere among my thoughts. 💔✨
