It was just a windowpane
I'd looked through before,
But today it seemed magical . . .
I was gonna get to meet
My baby brother for the first time.

I hoped he would look like me,
Because Mommy said that
He would be adopted
From a totally different family,
Yet he would still be ours.

His name was gonna be Devin.
I was gonna help feed him
And play with him when he got older.
I couldn't wait till then.
I wanted to play with him now!
