The ebb and flow of life can be startling and unpromising. Loneliness can engulf you and your mistakes and misdeeds can be magnified until nothing else remains. Everything can look hopeless, lifting a foot or even a finger becomes unbearable. Then you spend a day with your friend. Or even talk on the phone for a bit. The world brightens. Humans can suck for the most part. Coworkers can bring you down, family can make you question your existence, even a stranger on the street can say something cruel and senseless. But a true friend is the remedy to such situations. Fellow sufferers, kindred spirits, soulmates... not all in this world is unbearable. The connection one can share with someone willing to help carry your burden and relate with you on a level your own family can't, is a blessing that is sometimes unimaginable. As I fall asleep with warmth in my heart, I am thankful for their existence.
