Nana's Kitchen
#WritcoPoemPrompt42
Write a poem focusing on a single memory, or describe what you might imagine the typical grandmother’s kitchen to be like.

A single memory
Trying to choose
There are so many
So many to lose

A memory of my Nana's kitchen
Warms my troubled brain
Sitting, watching the kettles cooking
Listening to the pounding rain

Is this the single memory
No there is too much
Like walking behind the cemetery
Then remembering we're out of luck

Then there's memories of childhood
Some good, some not
Then memories of Southern California
The weather there, so hot.

Leaving my home and family
Searching for my life
Have I found it finally
Done with the pain and strife

Back to Nana's kitchen
Red and and white checkers adorn
I think I'll linger here
Until the dawn of morn
