A River Shed
my heart ache with the scalding cold hands of loneliness's hands
he longs to drag me to his freezing bosom
embrace
leach from me the last remnant of warmth
dry, deaden, deafen the screams of my lonesome heart
watch helpless as the rainbow in my eyes turn an ominous gray
slay
lie in my coffin and await true loves rousing kiss
laugh , cry, beat your chest in hopeless defiance
squeeze with an impotent fist
feet planted, hips studier than a century old oak
defy, withstand, a fruitless endeavor
And as I look upon a warrior so tattered
it's scar riddled face
I think about the river shed to reach this far
was it worth it? was it not?
