For those beginning years
When I was a mess


Although, I did not sought out salvation through you.
You brought an unexpected bright light
Revealing purpose, possibilities and new hope to be true

I so regret how your eyes saw the broken parts of me
Regretfully I let your heart feel the pains of my past

You are not a reflection of me
Your future is anywhere, anything, everything you dream it to be
My past does not determine your story

So I set my heart free now
Back then, I was the best mother
I only thought I could be.

You were a change worth fighting for
You made me so much more
