Shadow? No, Just Germane
For years and counting, I have been a soldier who toiled from behind the shade of glory.
I prefer to be the dark image which looms as though a shadow.
They say love casts long shadows but I am merely a hint of substance.
I prefer to surveil, so I won't be an obscurity to your influence rather than flying aloft with little comfort.
I prefer to be out of sight, rather than sitting at the masthead.
I have always been the itch in your charisma that can't be scratched, yet, it burns your feeble heart.
Even though I walk one step ahead, making you curse at the sight of my deformity everytime the sun blushes with a comely smile, I would still discreetly track your every move. Always a step ahead with no other choice but to carefully dance to every pattern your valiant frame stirs, everytime.
For I am too old to do anything but die.
