A republic we claim, but is it so?
On WhatsApp statuses, it seems to glow.
On paper, it’s there, in black and white,
But in reality, it’s a far-off sight.

Free and fair elections, a textbook lore,
Yet money and power decide much more.
Justice delayed is justice denied,
Yet endless cases still reside.

Protection of rights, a lofty phrase,
Yet silenced voices see darker...
