The Hawker
With calloused hands and weary eyes,
A young boy rises, before the sunrise.
He tends the farm, alongside his mother dear,
Their labor of love, to wipe away each tear.
His father's passing, left a gaping hole,
A void that echoed, with every troubled role.
But still he persevered, through each passing day,
Determined to rise, and drive the blues away.
The school bell rings, he rushes to his seat,
Tired, but unbroken, his spirit skips a beat.
The teacher's scorn, the classmates' sneer,
Can't deter his focus, his will to persevere.
They call him "Pepper Boy," "Vegetable Boy," too,
"The Ragged Boy," with a heart that's strong and true.
But he won't let their words, define his destiny,
He'll rise above, and make his own history.
The scholarship arrives, like a ray of shining light,
A chance to soar, to make his dreams take flight.
He grasps it with both hands, and never lets go,
His future unfolding, like a rose in bloom and glow.
Years go by, and he becomes, a great engineer,
A master builder, with a heart that's clear.
He looks back on his journey, with a sense of pride,
A young boy, who rose above, and reached the other side.
His mother's eyes, shine bright with joy and cheer,
As she beholds her son, who's wiped away each tear.
The hawker's cry, is now a distant past,
As...
