I never saw urgency in being a dad
After all look at De Niro and Mick Jagger
Always waiting for the right time and person
That all changed after a failed IUD

A medical complication lead to emergency room
Turns out she was several months pregnant
We had a decision to make
To keep it or not
I wasn’t ready
But to my surprise
I wanted to be a dad
And she a mother

Unfortunately though the choice was nullified
As few days later she had miscarried
In some ways I’m a father
I just wish I got to know my daughter
