Trying to protect the soft fluffy sweetness within
External boundaries always around me
My barriers need shoring from external din
Lighthouse beacon lit inside
Guiding the way when I want to hide
I can feel the oceans tidal fingers edging to touch me
These tides are higher than they really should be
Jerk me in or unsteady my feet
Enticement to be wild and free
Nowhere near yet I can see
Expanding waters rising around me
Frightened to think a vehicle can't save
The roads are rugged as a newly dug grave
Retreating on foot to a higher level
Trying to out run the devil
Only to know the devil is inside
Isn't there anywhere I can seek refuge from anxieties tide
