Haunting Stain
#SilentConfessions

I left without a word,
To spare your pain and mine.
Unveiled truths would only hurt,
So silence seemed divine.

But in my haste to flee,
I sowed seeds of bitter strife.
My absence left a void,
A wound that carved from life.

Once I thought it was for the best,
To avoid the searing pain.
Yet now, your hatred echoes,
A haunting, endless refrain.

I left without a word,
But paid a heavy price.
The silence I had sought
Returned with scorn and ice.

For in my act of grace,
I found a cruel jest.
I fled to spare your sorrow,
But all I did was leave you distressed.

Oh, how I wish I could reverse,
The path I took that day.
To speak the words that burned within,
And face your wrath, come what may.

But time has passed, and wounds have healed,
Though memories still remain.
The silence I once sought remains,
A bitter, haunting stain.
