Love Lost
I can't remember when
I last, truly, felt love
Or when I truly felt
I was still good enough.

I hear the words you say:
'I love you' and 'I care',
But when I turn around,
You're never really there.

You say that it's the distance
Or that time's not on our side,
But these excuses hurt us;
Our love, within, they divide.

Is this exactly what you want,
Or would you prefer someone new?
Can you take me and all my flaws,
All the trauma that I've been through?

Will you still feel the same years from now,
When this cute honeymoon phase doth end,
Or will I be left worse than before,
With a broken heart I cannot mend?

They say love should not cost anything,
That it's freely given and received,
But sometimes love just is not enough,
No matter what you had once believed.

Love is mere words without actions,
The repeat of heart-pulling rhymes.
With nothing to back all that's said,
Love's all void promises and lines.

At this point, what's left but pain;
Can what was be had once more?
Can love for us still exist
If, warning signs, we ignore?

I pray you find your joy
And live life how you please.
I pray you find your love,
For I know he's not me.

I know I'm not perfect,
But all I said was true:
I won't have another
'Cause all I love is you.
