Desolation
Out to the pastures I'd go each morn

Plow the field and sow my seed

Optimistic and not yet scorn

This hollow heart an easy read

Each day'd go by, no crop would sprout

The soul can't live with what's without.

Day to dark my callus crept

Drowned In dreams the demons slept

Concealed by night the tears I wept

A soul out of rhythm, heartstrings out of tune

Tug on my emotions I'll be sure to swoon.

Leaves turn stale, the air crisp

No harvest this season, not a wisp

Bitter cold has swept in swift

My heavy heart set adrift

Starvation's knocking at the door

Perhaps loves lost forevermore.

Flowers bloom, a bird sings

From deaths doom new life springs

The fields are lush, oh so green

Fertile soil, a grousome scene

Someone new spreads their seed

A corpse lies beneath, finally freed.
