Perhaps love is a sudden awakening,

Like a dream not yet dreamt or some other kind of affection:

A more tender one?

Night turns us all into the heart of something until we are

Everything to each other. The sky isn’t any color here. It’s OK because love is color enough

For your eyes, starlit and glorified by the light of the moon in this sky, illuminating

Toward a better moment, a better connection. I invented a notion of longing, and you invented a notion of belonging.

Amazing similarities and beautifully coincidental glow

Like a leaf falling from an autumn tree,

I keep wondering when love found its way into this world

In a time before yearning and yearning.

It’s quiet again and now the sky is a canvas of stars seeking out the hopeful and willing.

I’d like to make a map not of the land but of the path I took to arrive in your heart,

A map with no idealized purpose, a map of a thousand breathless moments.
