A Tail of Diamonds
You asked what I was thankful for, my biggest regret, and how I felt...
All I want is that tail to exist, so I never have to lock the door behind me.
The one that helped quiet the most clamorous in the dark stillness.
The one who promised me trying one last time was worth it.
You burst the boundaries and taught me I was always intentional.
You who gave me little objects because they made me smile.
You who thanked me when I told you my secrets and asked all the right questions.
You who told the weirdest things at 3 am because I knew you wouldn't smirk.
One sweet, the other one intimidating in an endearing way.
You who wrote paragraphs with all the litle details I thought were long forgotten.
You took your portraits everywhere and taught me the sound of silence in friendship.
And you, who looked at us with admiration as we spoke diplomacy and parliament, your littleeyes glittering.
The rain, winter, the moon, silence, darkness, flowers, colors, and all the symbols I can think of.
And still, after all, closing the door is the hardest thing because this time, I have a tail that will be left behind when I do.
Maybe it will be cut and turned into diamonds that will glisten when I dream of you, an ocean away.
