Born into cruelty.
Beat to submission.
It served as best it could,
Under impossible condition.

Years it strived to please,
those who swore the best
intentions hidden well,
casts a wall of detest.

Conditioned it may be,
It still has some fight.
And at times it's ferocious,
With its dwindling might.

Yet one woven word
and all hope is lost.
Beaten once more,
At higher the cost.
