A Flower Petal
A flower petal fell on my palm the other day
You're not with me but I can hear you say
That flowers lose a part of themselves as time passes
Fragile they are in different guises

One night, I watched the sky sparkle
The stars were so pretty, so perfectly nimble
That I recall you told that even what the sky holds would someday fall
That someday, you won't be there to answer my call

I was walking in a park under the city lights
This I do on mundane evenings and coffee nights
And though it blinded my eyes
It saved me from the pain of your goodbyes

I like the way the leaves whisper their lovely song to me
How it calms me, comforts  me, makes me happy
How in the wind, the figures I see
Are of you and then me, making promises to hold on dearly

I can't believe I could love such a mess
And a ridiculously beautiful one, no less
From roses full of thorns to the starlit heaven
From roaring headlights to the elusive wind maiden
I've learned to love all those little cracks
All the little things everything lacks

I miss those imperfections
--your imperfections
The way warmth was felt on the coolest winter day
And how your presence filled the loneliness of the sky in May
I miss the assurance of your forehead kisses by your stupidly chapped lips
And everytime I remember then my darling, every day my heart rips

Apart.
