to forgive is to have peace
My hands were once white until you painted them red,
And as a child I believed all the words you say,
As a child I believed your lies of me,
As a child I thought that was the truth of me,

And as I grew up my pain turned to bitterness,
And bitterness gave birth to hatred,
And hatred gave birth to destruction,

My broken heart released the criminals,
And punished the innocents,
My broken heart made me a criminal,

So I prayed to God to set me free,
And so He did,
He took my place and I watched Him died,
For me,
But not only for me,
But for you, who hurt me,
For you, who abused me,

So who am I to not have a little compassion?
Who am I to not forgive the heart breakers?
Who am I to not forgive you?

As it is written God is fair, it does not mean He is fair only when it comes to me,
But it means He's also fair when it comes to other people,

Because I'm a sinner myself, just like everyone else,
And just like everyone I was given another chance to live,
And to be saved,

So now I no longer ask God to set me free,
Because I have been set free,

Now I ask Him to heal my soul,
to mend my heart,
And to heal other people too,

Because we are all human and we are all broken.
