I used to believe in magic till the age of five,
Until reality struck me and I got some sense.
I used to believe in happy endings till the age of ten,
When princesses got married to their prince charming,
Until I realised that "happily ever after" is a myth.
I used to believe in "love and care" from every person, whether near or far,
Until time taught me difference between 'loving' and 'using'.
I used to believe in sharing and caring,
Until life taught me the "nobody cares" theme.
I used to believe in life-long friendships,
Until life taught me they last only for a time being.
I used to believe in those dreamy fantised love stories,
Until life taught me love is not the way it looks,
It's not the way it is potrayed in the books,
Love is not about happy endings, it's also about broken hearts,
Today I believe life is not perfect, neither is your lover,
For love resides in the heart of the lover.
