A Heart's Echo
Once, I bared my soul with trembling devotion,
To the one who captured my longing heart,
But fate's cruel jest led to friendship's emotion,
Yet within, love's ember refused to depart.
Like a shadow, it clings, a steadfast art,
Accepting friendship, yet yearning for more,
Hope flickers anew, a fragile restart,
But doubts linger, unseen, to the core.
Shall I risk it all once again, implore
The fates to grant me a chance, a sign?
Or shall I remain silent, unsure,
And guard this heart, fearing love's design?
In this turmoil, I dwell, hesitant, afraid,
Awaiting the moment fate's hand is played.
