Mermaids don't drown,
They swim instead,
Navigating their ocean...
Mermaids are Queens who found themselves thrown into the deep...
They made lemonades of their lemons,
Grew their legs into tails,
So that they may swim,
And evolved their lungs into fins and gills,
So that they may breathe... Live...
Their skin thickened...
To suit the salt water, their new home,
And their tears became precious pearls...
Their songs of sorrows became the siren that drew people closer,
And with their minds, they imagined super powers and it came to life.
They made their death into home instead...
And became Lordess over the sea...
Umu Adas of Poseidon, the King...
Mermaids never drown,
They stay afloat and rise to the shallows,
To torment those who condemned them...
In the end, Mermaids win and stay beautiful throughout the process...
