There's a bird that chirps, but it's in captivity
It longs to fly, but remains imprisoned

It flutters, it struggles, it cries and it screams
Agony runs through its veins, yet it's not allowed to fly

It's a wounded bird, pierced by the hunter
Yet the wounds are such that blood oozes from them

You say to it, "Fly, oh bird!"
Yet you give it wounds, and even cut its wings
