The Travesty
The Earth thought one moonless night,
deep beneath the depths,
where no man dared yet crept.
Oh sombre night! Oh solemn fright!
Oh dark skies consumed by light.

Ye swollen stars! Ye blackened hearts!
and minds, by mans twisted plight
I see pure rage, convicted hatred,
in those eyes.
Cowering beneath a cavern of lies.

Effort, toil, struggle and pride,
he who fights not shall be left behind.
Effort, toil, struggle and pain,
the human heart has grown concave.

With heart and sould and blood and bone
lone your love and lower your tone
and give all man an equal share
lest the world doth treat you fair.
