Emergency
He was rushed at the break of dawn
Daylight descended upon the misery
Left upon the empty streets.
Wondering if this was just a dream
A hallucination of different scenes

All the elements brought together
Oxygen to resuscitate!
Sodium was to rehydrate
Don't ask where chlorine went to
Coz she was busy cleaning the mess!

Everyone had done their part
Can't afford to lose a life,
Right after the break of dawn.
The sheets and floor had wept in red
Painting the morn in abstract art

What was left was for us to shed
Motionless I watched his body limp
And wondering why no one had prayed
In the silence I said a prayer
And bent below to whisper this..

"I had signed contracts with death,
That no one dies upon my shift
So give your all and trust in God
Or I'll wait for you at the gates of hell
Every morning is filled with hope
So pick up yours and let's do this."

His trembling fingers touched my hands
As if to speak I bent below
His lips had curled into a smile
In trembling words and a shaky voice
He made a joke deeply engraved!
