Downtown Apartments
I walked to your place
On a downtown apartments
A red glare covers my face—
As I sway my grey garments.
The look on your face
Made me stop and linger in the haze.
I muttered, “Who are you? ”—
You replied, “I’m yours, bold and new. ”
You used to sing your favorite songs
Outside your door every afternoon.
Blues and jazz, short and long—
You made my skies clear and free from doom.
We walked to your place
On a downtown apartment.
Golden glare covers our faces—
As we sway our red garments.
