When Love Never Comes
@Beloved K Nkomo

I am a man and a half like them all
In my veins there is thick blood too
Life serves me well now that I'm 40
I've a history that spans a generation
Gray enough to be worth a lady or two.
Yet they pass me by as they make errands
Giving a deaf ear to my entreaties for love
Looking upon me in disdain
As if my manhood is too shallow to matter
I wonder what is it that makes me inferior
Making me liitle more of an outcast
Worth every proper lady's aversion.
I will rise one day from my repugnance
And float above in the atmosphere of fame.
Looking above those who cherished my insignificance
And forever shine like the angel of dawn
With or without the blessing,
Of them whom thought me an everlasting outcast.
