Silently Beautiful
#WritcoPoemPrompt48
Write a poem about a time that your illusions of someone or something were shattered*
I hurriedly sat on the railway bench
I could feel the winds followed by stench
Some people were coughing and some had flu
My eyes were caught by the lady in blue
She joined me while waiting for the train
Her face was singing a tune,so plain
Her withered lips formed a weak smile
I kept observing her for a while
Her looks were pale and colour so dull
Her sense of fashion calculated null
No adornments and not even make up
Something halted my thoughts and made me to wakeup
Right then,my eyes fell on another girl
Her neck adorned with a beautiful pearl
She was donning a ruffled white sweater
Her beautiful face was so much better
She was fair, slender and tall
She was like spring as compared to fall
Near her came a boy,fed up with hunger
She shooed him away, munching her burger
I didn't have anything for the poor lad
For him,I felt so sorry and sad
Suddenly,I heard somebody calling him near
He went to the lady in blue with fear
She took out a sandwich from her purse
My judgmental thinking,I began to curse
She looked the same then how?
She looked so much beautiful now?
The smile that glistened through her eyes
It made me think and deeply realise
Make-up can only alter your appearance
But the real beauty lies in your essence
